The Library Talks with Olivier Lebrun about Bernard Chadebec
Bernard Chadebec was an employee of the Institut National de Recherche et de Securite for nearly forty years, from 1965 until 2005. This French institute promotes campaigns on any subject it considers important for the health and safety of men and women at work. Chadebec was employed as affichiste, and designed posters that brought safety instructions to the work floor. Although he has produced more than 300 posters, printed at 30 millions copies, he remains unknown of graphic design history.
Together with Urs Lehni, Olivier Lebrun worked on “Intrus Sympathiques”, a monograph on Bernard Chadebec featured text by historian Camille Pageard and will be published by Rollo Press in the summer of 2016. Lebrun is a French graphic designer living in Paris and has collaborated earlier with Rollo Press, for his hilarious publications A Pocket Companion to Books from The Simpsons in Alphabetical Order and its follow-up Another Companion to Books from The Simpsons in Alphabetical Order.
