This Little Piggy Went To Market
Reading Group with Will PollardThis reading group will attempt to consider fiction and finance in tandem, reading each through and within the other. Taking as our starting point the parallel abstractions underpinning language and the economy, we will seek to explore how fictional strategies are employed in the operations of capital; how systems such as debt, commodification and speculation are rendered in the form, content and materiality of fiction; and how different practices of reading and writing might variously correspond with and escape the logic of economic exchange.
We will discuss texts by a variety of writers, theorists and artists, such as (but not limited to!) Georges Bataille, “K.D.” (Goldin+Senneby), Patricia Reed, Bifo Berardi, Donald Barthelme, and Angélica Gorodischer.
